Caruso was dismantled because a solar power system is to be installed on the museum roof in the coming weeks. This is expected to produce 255,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year. This corresponds to approximately one third of the museum's total annual electricity consumption. But don't worry, sustainable energy does not contribute to the disappearance of elephants here either: Caruso will return after the installation and shine in new splendor!
Speaking of sustainable energy: On October 26, 2025, we will open our new permanent exhibition “Earth, folks! – The changing climate” with a big celebration.
